Exam preparation courses help you to prepare for a range of English language exams. You will extend your knowledge of General English as well as specific language and techniques necessary for the exam you wish to take. 

IELTS Exam Preparation Courses

IELTS = INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM www.ielts.org

Our IELTS Exam Preparation course is for students who need to take the IELTS test for work or study in the UK or in another English speaking country. The course combines extending your General English language with specific IELTS examination skills and practice in small groups of up to 5 students.  You can study for both the General IELTS or Academic IELTS exams.

During the course you can expect to:

• continue to improve and develop your General English language in all areas and on a wide range of topics
• focus on specific vocabulary useful for IELTS examination topics
• improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking specifically for the IELTS test
• develope examination strategies
• practice past papers under controlled conditions
• have continued feedback on your progress

From January to June and September to December, IELTS preparation courses are either as a full time 20 hours per week or a part time 5 hours per week Group Tuition course. Alternatively, a Group Plus Tuition course is available for 20, 25 or 30 hours per week.

During July and August, intensive IELTS Preparation courses are available for students who wish to prepare for and sit the exam during the summer.  Full time intensive courses are 25 hours per week or part time courses are 10 hours per week.

IELTS examinations can be taken at the local IELTS centre in Edinburgh every month. 

Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced, Cambridge Proficiency Examinations

Our Cambridge exam courses are for students who wish to prepare for the First Certificate, Advanced or Proficiency examinations. The course combines general English language development with the relevant examination skills and practice required for each exam.

During the course you can expect to:

• continue to improve and develop your general English language in all areas
• focus on specific vocabulary useful for particular examination topics
• improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking specifically for the FCE, CAE or CPE
• develope efficient examination strategies
• practice past papers under controlled conditions

Full time CAE & FCE Exam Preparation courses consist of 25 hours tuition per week. Students will join a 15 hour General English group in the mornings and a 10 hour Cambridge Exam Preparation group in the afternoons.  Courses are available in 4 or 8 week blocks.

Part time CAE & FCE Exam Preparation courses consist of 10 hours tuition per week in the afternoons, focusing only on Cambridge Exam preparation.  Courses are available in 4 or 8 week blocks.

* Exam dates are for the written exams in the local Cambridge Examination centre in Edinburgh. Fee for examination is not included in the course price.
