Summer excursions

All courses at ECS Scotland include one afternoon excursion per week

Excursions are usually on a Wednesday afternoon.  We leave Charlotte Square at 1pm and return to Edinburgh at around 5pm, depending on traffic.

The aim of the excursion is for you to practise your English outside the classroom, see some of Scotland's beautiful scenery and acquaint yourself with Scottish history and culture. We believe these excursions are just as beneficial for your English as lessons inside the classroom. Even if you can only stay one or two weeks, you will see some of our rich cultural heritage.  This summer we will visit the following places:

3rd June - Royal Yacht Britannia

10th June - Culross Village

17th June - Wallace Monument

24th June - Tantallon Castle

1st July – House of the Binns

8th July – Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery

15th July – Culross Village

22nd July – Traquair House & Gardens

29th July – Tantallon Castle

5th August – Falkland Palace

12th August – Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery

19th August – Culross Village

26th August – Newhailes

ECS Scotland reserves the right to change the location of excursions at short notice. Some excursions are weather dependent (and we all know the weather in Scotland is very changeable!)

Please note: All excursions include some walking outside as well as up and down stairs.  Please be careful of uneven surfaces and embankments at these sites. If it rains, take care on slippery pavements, cobblestones and grass. You are advised to wear comfortable and suitable shoes for walking and take a warm and waterproof jacket.
