ECS Scotland has a small network of local hosts and arranges homestay accommodation directly. We recommend booking as far in advance as possible for homestay, especially during peak-season weeks in July and August.
Homestay accommodation for adults
Homestay accommodation means living in a local home, and it is one of the best ways to ensure you make the most of your time practising English outside the classroom. It is also a good way to get to know the way of life and culture of Scotland and Britain.
Hosts provide an English-speaking environment, giving students regular opportunities to use English in everyday situations. Homestay accommodation may include a range of household types, including couples, single-person households and families with children, reflecting everyday life in Edinburgh.
Homestay is located within easy travelling distance of the school. Accommodation is located close to city centre bus/tram routes, and it is usually necessary to combine a short walk with a short bus journey. The maximum travel time is 45 minutes door-to-door from home to the school.
Edinburgh is a compact city and many areas are accessible within 20–30 minutes by bus or on foot.
Homestay accommodation is available from the Sunday before a course starts until the Saturday after a course finishes. Availability of extra nights is not guaranteed but may be possible outside the peak season (July and August). Please check with us at the time of booking.

Airport transfers
Airport transfers from Edinburgh Airport to accommodation can be arranged at the cost of £75 each way. Please inform the school at the time of booking. Collection from other airports is available on request.
It is very easy to get from the airport to Edinburgh city centre by public transport. There are public taxis outside the terminal, a regular bus service and a tram service.
