Course Profile: Group
The first part of the day will take place in the school. You will study in a mini group with a maximum of 5 students, the focus of the class with be improving speaking and listening skills through a variety of general topics.
After coffee break we will leave the school to visit a neighbourhood of Edinburgh. Each day we will focus on a different part of the city.
The English language vocabulary we meet will reflect the places we visit and what we naturally see around us. We will have language review and feedback session over lunch at the end of each class.
You will visit a variety of places in Edinburgh, these may include historic houses, landmarks, museums, galleries, walking routes and places of cultural interest.
Reflecting real world and workplace multi-level communication scenarios, learn how to communicate effectively across differing levels of English.
Please note this is a multi-level course for B1 to C1 participants.
What to expect:
- Practise your conversation and small talk skills both inside and outside the classroom
- Review vocabulary and language use over lunch with your teacher and course colleagues
- Discuss a wide range of general topics such as history, culture, cityscape, politics, local traditions and local amenities
- Fine tune your listening skills both in the classroom and in the local area
- Receive corrective feedback throughout the course to help improve your fluency and accuracy

Course Summary
- Multi-level B1 - C1
- Maximum 5 students per class
- Average age range of group 30 - 55+
- 25 hours per week (10 hours inside the classroom + 15 hours outside the traditional classroom)
- Course available for 1 to 4 weeks
- We will be outdoors some of the time: wear suitable shoes for walking on uneven surfaces. Warm and waterproof coat is recommended whatever the season!
- Use of public transport (bus/train/taxi) as necessary
Please note that a certain level of physical fitness is required to take part in this course. We will walk to visit various locations of cultural interest in Edinburgh. Although the distances are not particularly long, our city streets do go up and down hills and include uneven or cobbled roads and pavements.
