Course Profile: Family Experience in Edinburgh
Your children will not learn English in the traditional sit-down classroom setting but will enjoy using and learning English through participating in sports and games with local English speaking kids.
Choose from four different experiences:
Multi-Activity Experience
- Children will try a number of different activities throughout the day. Time will fly by for your child as they try a number of different sports, arts and craft activities, treasure hunts and board games. There will be 8 different games and activities each day with time between to relax, have a snack and chat.
- This is a fun, creative and active camp for 7 to 11 or 12 year olds. 5 and 6 year olds could be accepted in some cases, please contact us to arrange a call to discuss your circumstances.
- Some English knowledge recommended but not essential.
Coast 2 Coast (water and beach-based)
- Children will taken by minibus to East Lothian, outside Edinburgh. they will spend the day learning to surf and explore the natural environment of the beach and woodland. They will be coached by experienced surf instructors and will also learn about safety in the sea and ecology and wildlife.
- Other coastal activities during the day include; outdoor cooking, beach games, foraging, natural arts and crafts.
- This is an active and adventurous camp for 8 to 15 year olds. B1 English knowledge recommended. Must be able to understand safety instructions when participating in water activities.
Foxlake Aqua Experience (water-based)
- Children will be taken by minibus to Foxlake floating adventure aquapark in East Lothian, outside Edinburgh. They will participate in a variety of activities on the inflatables, low ropes course and various Nija Warrior style challenges. This is a full day of water related fun!
- This is a wet and adventurous camp for 8 to 15 year olds. B1 English knowledge recommended. Must be able to understand safety instructions when participating in water activities.
Lost Shore Surf Camp (water-based)
- Children will be taken by minibus to one of Europe's largest wavepool resorts, just outside Edinburgh. They will participate in surf lessons with expert instructors, surf skate sessions, water safety training and wellness workshops.
- This is a wet and adventurous camp for 8 to 15 year olds. B2 or higher English knowledge recommended. Must be able to understand safety instructions when participating in water activities.
Please note for all three above water-based camps:
- Children must be able to swim and be confident in the water
- Children must not have any serious medical conditions
- Children must have a strong enough English level to understand safety instructions and ask for help
- All equipment included

Course Summary
Our wish is for your children to become confident in using English in real life and for them to gain a love for the language through using it for fun from a young age.
If they have fun, they will learn naturally and will want to keep speaking English in the future!
Please note: parents or guardians are responsible for drop off and collection of their children and will have overall responsibility of their children while in Edinburgh.
- The drop off and collection point is 30 minutes walk from ECS Scotland school or a 10-minute taxi ride.
- There is a flexible drop off time between 8am - 9am (we recommend you drop off your between 8am - 8.20am so you have time to arrive at ECS Scotland for your own classes beginning at 9am).
- There is a flexible pick up time between 17.00 - 18.00.
- ECS Scotland acts as an agent between your family and AccessEA. All children's activities are organised and operated by AccessEA.
