Course Profile: General English Combination
In our General English course you will work in a small group to develop speaking and listening communication skills. Reflecting real world and workplace multi-level communication scenarios, learn how to communicate effectively across different cultures and differing levels of English. Maximum 5 students per group.
Please note the speaking & listening group is a multi-level class for B1 to C1 participants. We believe this reflects real world multi-level communication scenarios.
What to expect in the speaking & listening group:
- Practise your conversation and communication skills, including; turn-taking, interaction patterns, listening habits and small talk
- Carry out discussion, problem-solving, and presentation tasks
- Discuss a wide range of topics relevant to contemporary life and society
The one-to-one classes focus on specific, individual needs and will develop your general vocabulary, grammatical accuracy and communication skills.
What to expect in the General English 1-to-1 class:
- develop your general English vocabulary so you can express yourself precisely and confidently in a variety of situations
- listen to and watch different types of media
- read various articles so you can extend your knowledge of Scottish and British culture
- review common grammar problems and extend grammar knowledge
- improve your pronunciation and spoken fluency
- work on your specific requests
- visit places in Edinburgh with your teacher, if requested

Course Profile: Individual or private group
Individual Tuition (1-to-1) classes focus on specific, individual needs and develop your general vocabulary and communication skills. You can choose exactly what areas of English you want to focus on during the whole course.
Private mini groups are available for 2 to 5 students with a similar level of English. You can study with your colleagues, friends or family.
What to expect:
- flexible tailor-made programme discussed with your teacher(s)
- intensive speaking and listening practice
- work on pronunciation and accent reduction
- extensive vocabulary building
- grammar review, as necessary
- choose to have some of your lessons out of the classroom. You can visit museums, galleries, sights with your teacher
