Course Profile: Academic English combination
Academic English courses combine 1-to-1 classes with working in a small group to develop speaking and listening communication. Reflecting real world and workplace multi-level communication scenarios, learn how to communicate effectively across different cultures and differing levels of English. Maximum 5 students per group.
Please note the speaking and listening group is a multi-level class for B1 to C1 participants. We believe this reflects real world multi-level communication scenarios our clients experience on a regular basis.
What to expect in the speaking & listening group:
- Practise your conversation and communication skills, including; turn-taking, interaction patterns, listening habits and small talk
- Carry out discussion, problem-solving, and presentation tasks
- Discuss a wide range of topics relevant to contemporary life and society
What to expect in the Academic English 1-to-1
The one-to-one classes focus on specific, individual needs and will develop your Academic English vocabulary and skills for studying or working. This course is suitable for lecturers, researchers, students and others working in academia.
Lecturers and researchers can request specific topics in their field or choose more general academic skills such as:
- Practise note taking and summarising text
- Give presentations and work on pronunciation
- Develop reference and citation skills in English
- Refine reading skills
- Learn to pick out key points in lectures and talks
- Work on grammatical accuracy
- Expand vocabulary in an academic context

Academic English course
Course Profile: Individual or private group
Academic English courses are available throughout the year as an Individual Tuition or Private Group course. 1-to-1 classes mean you can focus 100% on your requests and specific topics during the whole course.
Private mini groups are available for 2 to 5 students with a similar level of English. You can study with your colleagues, friends or family.
Requests can include academic skills such as:
- Practise note taking and summarising text
- Give presentations and work on pronunciation and accent reduction
- Develop reference and citation skills in English
- Refine reading skills
- Learn to pick out key points in lectures and talks
- Work on grammatical accuracy
