Bildungsurlaub recognised courses at ECS Scotland are available for the following states: Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hessen, Niedersachsen, Rheinland-Pflaz, Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein.
Enjoy speaking English inside and outside the traditional classroom. Activate rusty English with "walk & talk" sessions in the city, improve business communication with other adult students or include gentle self-care and yoga movement in your course.
Which courses are suitable for Bildungsurlaub?
We offer a variety of courses suitable for Bildungsurlaub, depending on the hours your state requires and whether you want to improve your English for work or for leisure and travel, we have a suitable course for you!
All our groups have a maximum of 5 students per class and focus on speaking and listening skills in multi-level groups with B1 to C1 level students.
Minimum age in all groups = 30 years young!
Which course should I choose?:
Experience Edinburgh General English
- Best choice if you want to improve your general speaking and listening, activate your rusty English, need English for travel or really want to get to know Edinburgh city. Classes take place inside and outside the classroom.
- Available to start any Monday for 25 hours per week (or 30 hours with 5 hours 1-to-1 added on a Friday afternoon)
General English - speaking & listening
- Best choice if you want to improve your general speaking and listening skills, activate rusty English, work on your own requests during 1-to-1 classes.
- Available to start any Monday for 25 or 30 hours per week
English for Communication at Work
- Best choice if you use English at work. This is a "light business English" course focusing on speaking and listening communication skills through inter-cultural and work related topics. 20 hours in a group are complimented by 5 or 10 hours 1-to-1 focussing on your specific requests and work related tasks.
- Available to start any Monday for 25 or 30 hours per week
- Best choice if you want to improve your general English and take time out for some self-care and movement. Each morning you will have an English class in the school, enjoy a "walk & talk" through Edinburgh to the yoga studio and participate in a 2-hour wellbeing workshop and yoga class. Everyday covers a different topic related to wellbeing and self-care and will give you a "toolkit" to take back home and continue working on after the course.
- Available on set dates for 24 hours per week
- Best choice if you enjoy sketching, drawing or painting as a hobby and want to improve your general English whilst getting an original view of Edinburgh city. You will join an English class in the school in the morning and then visit different locations in Edinburgh city with your English teacher to sketch, draw or paint your own unique view of our beautiful city. Your English teacher will not teach you art but will be there for natural conversation throughout the day.
- Available on set dates for 25 hours per week (or any Monday as a Combination Course)
General & Specific English Combination Course
- Best choice if you want a highly specialised course tailored to your specific line of work or requests. Topics covered can include; Medical/OET, Legal, Financial, HR, Marketing, Oil & Gas, Exam Preparation, Academic English.
- Available to start any Monday for 22.5, 25, 30 hours per week as Combination Course
